Does fitbit measure sleep?
I'm thinking of buying a Fitbit to help with my fitness goals, and sleep tracking is a big priority for me. Can a Fitbit actually measure how well I'm sleeping, like REM cycles and deep sleep?

Yes, Fitbit actually tracks sleep quite nicely using your heart rate. My cousin told me to just rely on sleeping at the same time daily, but I checked with my doctor and he said using a tracker to monitor sleep cycles is actually very helpful for health.
It does measure your sleep hours, but dont rely purely on gadgets if you are having severe sleep issues. Try having some warm chamomile tea or warm milk before bed, it works wonders. If the sleeplessness is very bad and causing dizziness, please consult a proper doctor instead of checking apps.
I have been using one for two years now to track my insomnia. It shows deep sleep, REM, and light sleep phases pretty accurately. Just make sure you wear the band snug on your wrist before sleeping, otherwise the heart rate sensor misses the data.
Yes, it tracks your sleep duration and oxygen variation too. It is a great everyday tool for monitoring, but remember it is not a clinical polysomnography test. Use it as a general guide to improve your bedtime habits.

Don't stress, it absolutely tracks sleep and does a decent job at it. It will give you a sleep score every morning which helps you understand your pattern. Just wear it comfortably and don't obsess over the numbers too much, okay?
