Does fibromyalgia cause sleep apnea?

Been dealing with extreme fatigue and unrefreshing sleep for ages, and my wife says I snore very loudly. Someone told me these symptoms could be linked to fibromyalgia and even sleep apnea. Can fibromyalgia actually cause sleep apnea?

In our family, we believe that undisturbed sleep is vital for healing the body. While fibromyalgia causes a lot of fatigue, sleep apnea is a separate breathing issue, though studies show they often occur together. Please consult a doctor for a proper sleep study to find relief.

Yes, there is a strong link because pain disrupts sleep patterns. If your doctor clears you, try doing some light yoga or a evening walk. It won't cure apnea, but it might help relax your muscles and improve your overall sleep quality slightly.

As if having fibromyalgia pain wasn't enough, our bodies decide to stop breathing properly at night too, haha! They are definitely linked, so if you are waking up gasping, don't just blame the fibromyalgia. Go get your snoring checked by a doc!

I had severe sleep issues and body pain that I ignored, which eventually led to chronic exhaustion and high blood pressure. Fibromyalgia and sleep apnea are closely linked, and one can worsen the other. Please see a doctor immediately for a proper diagnosis before it gets worse.

Sleep studies for apnea can be quite expensive in private clinics. If you are experiencing fibromyalgia and heavy snoring, plan your budget for a doctor-prescribed home sleep test first, as it is much cheaper than an overnight lab study.

Beta, chronic pain always disturbs our sleep, and if there is snoring, it makes the body even more tired. You can try sleeping on your side and doing light breathing exercises in the morning. But do not ignore this; consult a doctor to check if you need any special machine for breathing.
