Does famotidine cause cancer?

I've been taking Famotidine for my acidity issues for a while now. Recently, I saw some news about certain medications potentially increasing cancer risk. I wanted to check if Famotidine is one of those drugs and if it's linked to cancer.

Oh god, I panicked so badly about this last year when my doctor prescribed it for my acid reflux. I stayed up all night googling and was terrified. My doctor calmly explained that it is completely safe and different from the banned medicine. I took it for two weeks and was absolutely fine.

No, famotidine doesn't cause cancer. There was a recall on a different antacid called ranitidine a few years ago due to some impurities, which is why people often get confused. Famotidine is a safe alternative, but don't self-medicate for months; adjust your diet and see a doctor if acidity persists.

No need to worry, it is a very common medicine and safe. But honestly, instead of taking pills daily, try simple changes like eating dinner early by 8 PM and avoiding too much spicy food. A glass of cold milk or a bit of fennel seeds after meals works wonders for normal acidity.

Famotidine itself is safe, but using it to hide severe symptoms can be risky. I ignored my chronic stomach pain by just popping antacids, which later turned out to be a severe ulcer infection. Please get a proper endoscopy done if your acidity doesn't go away.

It is a safe medicine and does not cause cancer. Take it as your doctor has prescribed, and try to stay relaxed because stress also increases acidity.
