Does ezetimibe affect liver function?

I recently started taking a new medication to help lower my cholesterol. My doctor mentioned it's generally safe, but I read something online about cholesterol meds affecting the liver. Does this particular medicine, Ezetimibe, impact liver function?

Ezetimibe can sometimes cause a mild elevation in liver enzymes, especially when taken alongside statins. It is standard practice to get routine liver function tests (LFT) done to monitor this. Your cardiologist is the best person to evaluate if the drug is safe for your liver.

My dad takes this for his cholesterol and his doctor told him to do a blood test every few months just to check his liver. It seems pretty normal to monitor it, so nothing to panic about, but definitely keep your doc in the loop.

Yes, it can impact liver enzymes, which is why regular blood panels are necessary. Along with the medication, maintaining a clean diet and doing 30 minutes of daily cardio can help manage cholesterol naturally, reducing dependency if your doctor agrees.

Haan na, it can affect the liver slightly, especially if you are taking other cholesterol medicines together, ho na? My uncle had to do LFT tests twice a year just to be safe. It is always better to follow the doctor's plan carefully.

Ezetimibe works in the digestive tract, but it can occasionally raise liver enzymes. We always advise patients to look out for symptoms like unusual fatigue or yellowing of eyes, though it's rare. Just make sure to get your scheduled blood tests done.

I can only share that my husband has been on Ezetimibe for two years now. His liver function tests have always come back normal, but his doctor does check them during every annual physical. Everyone's body reacts differently to these medicines.
