Does exercise before bed help you sleep?

I've been having trouble falling asleep lately, so I started exercising in the evenings. Some people say it helps, others say it keeps you awake. I wanted to know if exercising right before bed is actually good for sleep or not.

Please be careful. I tried doing intense workouts late at night and ended up with severe insomnia and high heart rate because my body couldn't cool down. If you have chronic sleep issues, it's better to consult a doctor.

For me, doing very gentle stretches in bed helps relax my body before sleeping. Heavy workouts might keep you awake, but light stretching is very soothing.

Heavy lifting or cardio before bed isn't ideal because it raises your core temperature. I find that finishing my workouts by 7 PM and keeping a consistent dinner schedule helps my muscles recover and improves my sleep.

No, intense exercise right before bed spikes your cortisol and body temperature, making it harder to fall asleep. Shift your workouts to mornings or early evenings for better sleep quality.

Don't do heavy cardio late at night, it will just pump up your adrenaline and make sleep harder. Try to finish any intense exercise at least 3 hours before bed. Keep the bedroom cool and relaxing.

Man, if I do pushups before bed, my brain thinks it's party time and I end up scrolling my phone till 3 AM! Keep the workouts for the day and just collapse into bed at night.

I totally get it, lying awake at night wanting to sleep is so frustrating. Heavy exercise right before bed usually keeps your mind alert, so maybe try reading a book or listening to soft music instead.
