Does everybody have kidney stones?
My colleague just got diagnosed with kidney stones, and it sounds very painful. It made me wonder, do all people eventually develop kidney stones as they get older?

No bro, definitely not everyone gets kidney stones. I had a painful 6mm stone last year because I barely drank water and ate too much junk. My brother eats the same food but never got one, so it depends a lot on your water intake and genetics.
Not at all, it's actually quite avoidable! My father got them once, but since then we all drink plenty of water and limit extra salt. Just staying hydrated is the easiest way to prevent stones from forming.
Kidney stones only affect about 10-12% of the population. They usually form due to high calcium, oxalate, or dehydration, so it is not something 'everybody' has. If you have severe lower back pain, consult a doctor immediately for an ultrasound.
No, everyone doesn't get them, but people with diabetes or high blood pressure have a slightly higher risk due to metabolic changes. It is very important to eat balanced meals, keep your salt intake low, and drink enough water daily.
Absolutely not, but if you do get them, they can cause severe complications. I ignored mild back pain until my stone blocked the urinary tract and caused a kidney infection. Please see a urologist if you feel any sharp side pain or burning during urination.
