Does eczema ooze?
Sometimes, when my eczema is really bad, especially on my inner elbows, it gets crusty and a clear, yellowish fluid seeps out. It's a bit gross. Does eczema often ooze like this during severe flare-ups?

Yeah, it definitely does. When I get bad flare-ups on my elbows and scratch them too much, they start weeping this clear, watery fluid. It's super annoying because it sticks to my clothes. I just try to keep it clean and let it air out.
I was actually reading up on this because my cousin has skin issues. Apparently, it's called wet eczema or weeping eczema, and it usually happens when the skin barrier is really broken down or if there is a secondary infection. It's quite common but needs proper care.
My eczema used to ooze a lot when I sweated during my daily runs, which made it feel way worse. If your doctor allows, switch to light indoor walks in an AC room so you don't sweat too much and irritate the open skin. Keeping dry is really key when it's in that state.
If it is oozing a thick, yellowish fluid or if it feels warm and painful, please don't ignore it. I thought my oozing was normal eczema, but it turned out to be a staph infection that required oral antibiotics. Get a dermatologist to check it out immediately to be safe.
At this age, my body finds new ways to surprise me, and now my dry skin patches have started weeping like a Bollywood drama. Yes, it oozes when irritated. Just put some doctor-approved cream on it and pray you don't scratch it in your sleep!

I actually track my skin flare-ups on my health app, and I noticed that oozing usually happens when the humidity levels are very high or right after I scratch. Keeping a digital log helps you identify these triggers easily so you can consult your doctor with solid data.
I have noticed my skin flares up and starts weeping whenever my stress levels go up, which also messes with my blood pressure. Managing my daily routine, eating clean, and getting regular health checkups has really helped keep both my skin and my BP in check.
