Does eczema bleed?

My son has severe eczema on his legs, and sometimes when he scratches, it looks raw. I've noticed a little bit of blood sometimes. Is it normal for eczema to bleed, especially if it's irritated?

Oh my god, my eczema patches on my elbows started bleeding yesterday because I scratched them in my sleep. Has anyone else experienced this? I am so worried it will get infected, please tell me what you did.

Seeing blood on your skin is so scary, I completely understand your panic. But please don't worry too much, eczema cracks and bleeds very easily if the skin gets extremely dry or if you scratch it. Just keep it clean and contact your doctor for a soothing ointment.

Yes, if the skin gets very dry and cracks, it can bleed. I try to drink lots of water and eat a clean diet to help my skin recover. If your doctor allows you to exercise, light workouts can also improve circulation, just make sure to shower and moisturize immediately after.

I am quite new to this and just got diagnosed with mild eczema. Does it really bleed often if we don't moisturize? I am thoda scared of using heavy creams but I don't want my skin cracking like that.

My grandmother used to tell me to apply pure coconut oil when my skin cracked and bled, which does help soothe it. But for bleeding eczema, it is always best to trust your dermatologist. They will give you a proper antibacterial cream to prevent any infection.
