Does eating sweets give you diabetes?

My dad has high sugar, and he always blames the laddoos he ate as a child. I have a bit of a sweet tooth myself, especially after meals. Should I be worried about getting diabetes just from enjoying a few sweets?

Please don't stress too much about this. Just eating a sweet won't give you diabetes overnight. Eat in moderation and take care of your general health.

It's all about how your body burns those calories. If your doctor has cleared you for exercise, try going for a brisk 20-minute walk after lunch or dinner. It helps a lot in managing post-meal sugar spikes naturally.

Actually, my doctor explained this clearly last month during my annual checkup. He told me that type 2 diabetes is a complex genetic and lifestyle issue, and sugar alone isn't the sole culprit. But excessive sweet intake can lead to obesity, which is a major risk factor.

No, it's a myth. Sweets alone won't give you diabetes unless your lifestyle or genes are already predisposed.

Exactly, I agree with others. Just make sure to get your fasting blood sugar and HbA1c checked once a year to be safe.
