Does eating late affect sleep?

My work hours are quite demanding, so I often find myself eating dinner very late, sometimes almost at midnight. I've been struggling with insomnia lately. Could eating late at night be affecting my sleep?

Eating too close to bedtime can trigger acid reflux and disrupt sleep cycles. Consulting a doctor is ideal if you have chronic sleep issues, as it could be something else.

Try having a cup of warm chamomile tea or fennel water if you eat late. But if you have constant chest burning or sleeplessness, please go see a doctor.

My son used to have dinner very late and then complain of nightmares and restlessness. Once we shifted his meal time to 8 PM, he started sleeping much better.

With my thyroid, late meals completely ruin my digestion and sleep. It is very important to get regular thyroid tests and consult your doctor to manage this.

Simply keep a gap of at least two hours between your dinner and bedtime. Also, avoid heavy tea or coffee after 6 PM and you will sleep much better.
