Does eating before bed affect sleep?

Due to my work schedule, I often eat my dinner quite late, sometimes just an hour or two before sleeping. Lately, my sleep has been disturbed. Does eating before bed affect sleep quality?

It definitely does for me, especially with my thyroid issues which make digestion slower. I strongly suggest keeping a gap of 3 hours and getting your hormone levels checked regularly if this is a constant struggle.

I read that eating heavy meals right before sleeping forces your body to work on digestion instead of resting, which lowers deep sleep. It's quite interesting how much our gut affects our brain.

Haan na, if I eat heavy food late, I keep turning in bed all night. Our elders always said to keep dinner light, and they were so right actually.

If you get hungry late, just have a small cup of warm milk or a few almonds. Heavy stuff like parathas will definitely cause acidity and ruin your night's sleep.

But what about those midnight cravings for sweet? I honestly sleep much better after a small piece of chocolate or some ice cream, even if it's not the healthiest habit!

A light stomach allows the mind to settle peacefully into prayer and rest. Keep your last meal gentle, and let your body find its natural rhythm. Stay blessed and take care.
