Does earwax buildup cause ear pain?

I've been having a dull ache in my left ear for a couple of days now, and my hearing feels a bit muffled. Could this be because of earwax buildup, and does that usually cause pain?

Haan na, earwax heavy ho jaye toh bahot pain hota hai. We think cotton bud will clean it, but it actually pushes the wax deeper inside. Better to see an ENT doctor who can clean it safely.

Yes, hard earwax buildup can press against your eardrum and cause quite a bit of pain. It is best to avoid using bobby pins or cotton buds and let a doctor take a look.

Yes, blockages can cause a dull ache and even mild dizziness which can disrupt your daily workouts or runs. Don't try to poke around in your ear with keys or pins. Just visit a clinic to get it professionally syringed so you can get back to your routine safely.

My grandmother always suggested putting warm coconut oil, but my ENT doctor strictly advised against putting anything inside the ear canal when it hurts. Hardened wax can swell up and cause sharp pain, so it is best to get it professionally cleaned at a clinic.

I had this issue last semester because of wearing headphones all day, and my ear started hurting badly. The doctor told me the wax got impacted due to the earbuds pushing it in. A few ear drops cleared it up easily.

In our times, we used a drop of lukewarm mustard oil to soften the wax, but one must be very careful with the ears. If the pain is sharp or if there is any fluid coming out, you should never put anything inside and must visit a doctor immediately.
