Does ear wax help fever blisters?

I frequently get fever blisters, and my grandmother once told me to put a bit of ear wax on them as a home remedy. It sounds a bit strange to me. Does ear wax actually help fever blisters heal, or is that an old wives' tale?

I don't think there is any scientific proof that ear wax helps with fever blisters, and honestly, it sounds a bit unhygienic. For overall healing, I focus on light walks and keeping my immune system active if the body feels up to it. It is best to let a doctor suggest a proper ointment.

Wait, who is telling you to put ear wax on blisters? That sounds like a recipe for a bad skin infection while you are already struggling. I might be awake at 3 AM doing weird internet searches, but even I wouldn't try this one.

Ear wax inside the ear is fine, but putting it on blisters is not right, haan na. It can carry bacteria and make the skin infection worse. Better to use a standard ointment or ice cube instead.

Bro, please don't do this. I had fever blisters last month and applying random things like this can actually cause a secondary bacterial infection. Just buy a standard over-the-counter antiviral cream from the pharmacy, it heals much faster.

I have tried many traditional remedies in my life, but applying ear wax to fever blisters is definitely not a safe practice. It contains dirt and trapped bacteria that can easily infect an open blister. Applying a little honey or cold milk is a much cleaner and soothing home remedy.

According to dermatological guidelines on my health tracker app, fever blisters are viral and need proper antiviral care. Using ear wax is a myth and carries a high risk of bacterial contamination. Try using proper OTC creams or consult a doctor online.
