Does dysmenorrhea cause vomiting?

My younger sister suffers from really severe period pain every month, to the point where she sometimes feels nauseous and even vomits. Is it common for dysmenorrhea (painful periods) to cause vomiting, or should she be concerned?

Severe period pain with vomiting can sometimes be linked to cysts or other issues, so don't keep buying expensive pain relief patches every month. It is much better to plan and budget for a pelvic ultrasound which costs around 1000 rupees. That will give you a clear answer once and for all.

Yes, extreme period pain can definitely trigger nausea and vomiting. Drinking ginger tea and using a hot water bag helps soothe the stomach.

My sister used to get terrible period cramps and would throw up almost every month because of the intense pain. Her doctor said the high prostaglandins cause both the stomach upset and cramps. She got some specific medicine from her gynecologist and she is much better now.

My wife goes through this occasionally when her cramps are very severe. Taking proper rest and keeping yourself hydrated with warm water can make a difference.

Yes, those nasty cramps can definitely make you throw up! It is actually quite common due to hormonal changes during your cycle. Just wrap yourself in a warm blanket, sip some lemon water, and take it easy!

I used to ignore my severe period cramps and vomiting, thinking it was just normal dysmenorrhea, but it turned out to be severe endometriosis. Please don't keep taking random painkillers at home. Get a proper checkup from a good gynecologist as soon as possible.

Since I have PCOS, my periods are always highly irregular and painful, and the hormonal imbalance sometimes triggers intense nausea. While vomiting can happen with dysmenorrhea, it is always safest to talk to your doctor to rule out any underlying issues. Take care of yourself.

Haan na, the pain becomes so unbearable sometimes that it directly hits the stomach and we start vomiting. It is very common but actually quite exhausting to go through every month. Please ask your doctor for a safe antispasmodic tablet, ho na.

I totally get it, dealing with severe cramps is bad enough, and vomiting on top of that just makes you feel completely drained. It is a very real response to intense pain. Please don't suffer in silence, a gynecologist can easily help you manage this.

My grandmother used to give me warm water with ajwain when I felt nauseous during my periods. However, if the vomiting is severe and you cannot keep any food down, please consult a gynecologist. It is always better to get proper medical guidance.
