Does drinking sweet tea cause kidney stones?

My family loves sweet tea, and we drink it almost daily, especially after meals. Recently, I read an article online that suggested sweet tea could contribute to kidney stones. Is there any truth to this, or is it just misinformation?

I am not very sure about this, but I love drinking sweet iced tea in summers. Does the sugar in the tea make the stone risk higher, or is it just the tea leaves? If someone could explain gently, it would help me a lot.

I totally understand how terrifying it is to worry about kidney stones, especially when you read scary things online. I used to panic over every glass of sweet tea I drank. But rest assured, having it once in a while is okay, just don't make it a daily habit.

When my partner had to go to the hospital with a sudden kidney stone attack, we were absolutely devastated and stressed out. We realized how much sweet tea he was drinking daily at office. It’s a very painful experience, so cutting down on tea and sugar is definitely a smart move.

Hey, don't stress too much about it! Yes, black tea has oxalates and sugar doesn't help, but having a cup occasionally is completely fine. Just balance it out with loads of plain water throughout the day.

Yes, excessive sweet tea can increase kidney stone risk because of the high oxalates in tea and the high sugar content.

We don't need fancy drinks anyway. If you love tea, just have normal milk tea once a day with very little sugar, or switch to warm lemon water. Keeping simple eating habits and drinking basic tap water is the best way to prevent stones.

At 50, my body finds a new way to complain every month. I used to love sweet tea, but my doctor warned me about oxalates and diabetes, so now I just drink warm water and pretend it's a gourmet tea!
