Does drinking help you sleep?

Trouble sleeping lately has me waking up many times during the night. Some friends say a little drink before bed helps them relax and sleep better. Is this actually a good solution for insomnia, or just a myth?

Relying on alcohol for sleep will only cost you more money in the long run with liver tests and sleep clinic bills. A cheaper and highly practical solution is to invest in a simple warm milk habit and a quiet room routine.

Alcohol might make you feel drowsy initially, but as your body metabolizes it, it actually disrupts your REM sleep cycle in the second half of the night. You'll wake up feeling unrefreshed. Try to avoid alcohol at least 4 hours before bedtime.

Sharab peene se neend toh thodi der ke liye aa jayegi, par raat ko baar baar neend tootegi aur subah sar bhari rahega. Isse achha hai ki aap thoda garam doodh ya haldi waala paani piyein, bade-budhe yahi sikhate hain.

I know how incredibly frustrating and exhausting it is to lie awake at night desperately wanting to sleep, and how tempting it is to just have a drink to switch off. But please believe me, it only makes the anxiety and sleep issues worse the next day. Be gentle with yourself.

Hey, please don't use alcohol as a sleeping aid. It might seem like an easy fix when you are tired, but it actually ruins your health and can become a dangerous habit. Talk to a doctor if insomnia is really bothering you, okay?

I used to drink beer every night thinking it helped me sleep. But actually, my sleep quality was terrible and I woke up exhausted every day. I stopped drinking entirely last month, and now my natural sleep cycle is back and feels amazing.
