Does drinking coca cola cause kidney stones?

I consume a lot of soft drinks, especially Coca-Cola, almost daily. My uncle recently developed kidney stones, and he warned me that these fizzy drinks might be the cause. Can drinking Coca-Cola actually lead to kidney stones?

I used to drink multiple cans of Coca-Cola daily instead of water during summer. I ignored the dull ache in my side until I collapsed with severe kidney stone pain and needed immediate hospitalization. Please don't ignore mild back pain and get your kidneys checked.

Coca-Cola contains phosphoric acid which is directly linked to calcium oxalate kidney stones. If you are active, try to replace sodas with plain water or coconut water. If your doctor allows, consistent cardio and high hydration will keep your kidneys clean.

Great, another thing I love that is trying to destroy my body. Honestly, between working late nights and drinking cola for caffeine, my kidneys must be crying. I guess I need to start drinking actual water now.

If Coca-Cola made stones instantly, half of our college would be walking around like rock quarries! But seriously, the phosphoric acid in it is notorious for forming stones. Keep it as a rare treat, not your daily water.

Dealing with the constant fear of kidney stone recurrence is so stressful, I completely understand your worry. Yes, colas can contribute to stones due to high sugar and acids. It is really hard to give up comfort drinks, but your health is worth it.

I track all my food inputs on an app, and the high phosphorus and fructose in colas are major red flags for kidney stone formation. Try tracking your daily water intake instead and aim for at least 3 liters to keep your urinary tract clear.

As a diabetic, Coca-Cola is double danger because the high sugar spikes insulin, which makes the kidneys excrete more calcium, leading to stones. Even diet colas contain acids that aren't good. Stick to unsweetened drinks for safety.

At my age, my doctor has basically banned anything that comes in a can. Coca-Cola is highly acidic and has tons of sugar, both of which are perfect recipes for kidney stones. Swap it with buttermilk if you want to save your kidneys from trouble.

Yes, Coca-Cola and other dark sodas contain high levels of phosphoric acid, which significantly increases the risk of kidney stones. My practical advice is to switch to fresh lime water (nimbu pani) which contains citrates that actually help prevent stones.

I have had three kidney stones in my life, and my urologist specifically told me to completely stop drinking dark sodas like Coca-Cola. The phosphoric acid inside binds with calcium in your kidneys. Drink plain water or barley water instead; it works wonders.
