Does drinking affect eczema?

I have occasional flare-ups of eczema, and I also enjoy a social drink once in a while. I've noticed sometimes my skin feels worse after drinking. Does consuming alcohol have a direct impact on eczema?

Yes, alcohol can definitely trigger eczema flare-ups. Just like how alcohol affects my blood pressure, it causes inflammation in the body and dehydrates the skin. It is always wise to keep a check on your lifestyle and consult your dermatologist.

I used to panic so much whenever my skin got red and itchy after a weekend party. I thought it was some severe allergic reaction, but then my doctor explained that alcohol just dehydrates the skin and triggers eczema. Now I just drink lots of water and moisturize well, and it is much better.

If you want to save yourself from looking like a red tomato the next morning, maybe swap that beer for some mocktails! Jokes apart, alcohol is definitely a known trigger for skin irritation. Keep it light!

Yes, alcohol can really dry out your skin and make eczema worse. Try to drink coconut water or fresh fruit juices instead, your skin will thank you for the hydration boost.

Alcohol dilates blood vessels and can cause skin flushing and itching, which directly worsens eczema symptoms. If you do choose to drink, make sure to drink a glass of water after every drink to prevent severe skin dehydration.

I am newly noticing some dry red patches on my hands after drinking wine. Does this happen with all types of alcohol, or is it specifically because of wine? I would appreciate if someone could guide me.

Haan na, alcohol pine ke baad skin bohot dry ho jati hai aur itching badh jati hai. I have noticed this with my cousin too. Better to avoid heavy drinking and keep the skin well moisturized.
