Does dimetapp help with fever?

My 5-year-old has a high fever, and I'm looking for something to help bring it down. I have some Dimetapp at home from when he had a cold. Does Dimetapp help with fever, or is it only for cold symptoms?

Dimetapp is mostly for cold and allergy symptoms like runny nose, and it may contain a minor fever reducer depending on the specific variant. Don't waste money buying multiple syrups blindly. Just visit a local clinic for a 100-rupee consult to get the correct paracetamol dosage instead.

I was looking up the same thing last week when my cousin got sick. From what I read, it has antihistamines for cold, but for a high fever, a proper fever medicine is usually needed. Best to ask a pharmacist or a doctor to be absolutely sure.

In my years of managing family health, Dimetapp is mainly used to dry up a runny nose and cold. If the fever is high or persistent, please don't rely on cold syrups. Get a doctor's advice and monitor the temperature with a digital thermometer every few hours.

I panicked when my child had a fever and cold together and almost gave him Dimetapp thinking it covers everything. Our pediatrician calmly explained that it won't bring down a high fever effectively and gave us separate drops. It is totally manageable, just take the doctor's prescription.

Look, Dimetapp is for cold and congestion, not primarily for fever. If there is a high fever, don't play guessing games with cold medicines. Go straight to a doctor and get the right paracetamol or fever tablet prescribed.
