Does diabetes make you immunocompromised?

I have diabetes, and I seem to catch colds and infections much more easily than before, especially during seasonal changes. Does having diabetes mean your immune system is weaker or that you are immunocompromised?

I have had diabetes for 25 years now. It does make your body a bit slower at fighting infections, but if you keep your HbA1c below 7, you can live absolutely normally without getting sick constantly. Don't worry too much, just focus on control.

Yes, high blood sugar levels can weaken the white blood cells' ability to fight off bacteria. It's a proven fact. If your sugar is uncontrolled, you are definitely more prone to skin and urinary infections. Keep it managed.

High sugar does make the body weak to fight coughs and colds. In our days, we used to drink light neem tea or turmeric milk to build strength naturally, but always make sure your main sugar medicines are taken on time as the doctor says.

From what I have read and discussed with my doctor, metabolic issues like diabetes do lower your immunity to some extent. It's better to be a bit careful with hygiene and wound healing. Please consult your specialist for personalized advice.

My teenage son has Type 1, and we have to be very careful with even small cuts because they take longer to heal. I always keep a good antiseptic at home and monitor his sugars daily to make sure his immunity isn't compromised.

Haan, yeh toh hai. Sugar high ho toh infection jaldi pakad leta hai body, aur thik hone mein bhi time lagta hai na. Isliye thoda immunity ka dhyan rakhna padta hai, cleanliness zaroori hai.
