Does diabetes make you hungry?

I'm always feeling hungry, no matter how much I eat throughout the day. I'm worried it might be an early sign of diabetes. Does diabetes cause constant hunger pangs?

Haan, bilkul sahi baat hai. Sugar levels jab upar-neeche hote hain na, toh achanak se bahut tez bhook lagne lagti hai. Mere tauji ko bhi yeh problem hoti thi, unhe lagta tha pet khali hai par actually sugar badi hoti thi.

Yes, it absolutely does, and this is called polyphagia. I used to feel hungry every two hours when my sugar was uncontrolled. The best way to manage this is to add more fiber and protein to your meals rather than eating more simple carbs when that hunger pang strikes.

Yes, it is a very classic symptom because your cells aren't getting the glucose they need. Don't just keep eating blindly when this happens. Get an HbA1c test done immediately to know where your levels stand.

Extreme hunger is indeed a recognized symptom of fluctuating blood sugar, but self-diagnosing can be tricky. It is always best to consult an endocrinologist who can look at your blood reports and adjust your dosage safely.

I completely agree with everyone here. Just try drinking a glass of warm water or green tea when you feel that sudden intense urge to eat, it helps control the craving.

Honestly, don't go by what people online suggest for this. Some might tell you to eat this leaf or that seed, but uncontrolled hunger needs proper clinical validation. Please check with your diabetologist before trying any online hacks.

Drinking methi water in the morning sometimes helps stabilize those sudden hunger spikes. But listen, if you are also feeling dizzy, sweating, or losing weight rapidly along with this hunger, please go see a doctor immediately.
