Does diabetes disqualify you from the military?

I've always dreamed of joining the Indian Army, but I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes a few years back. Does having diabetes mean I'll be disqualified from military service, even if it's well-managed?

I am not very sure, but my cousin wanted to apply for the Army and was recently diagnosed. Does this rule apply to all branches like Navy and Air Force too, or are there any exceptions for mild cases?

Yes, it generally does because maintaining strict diet routines and carrying insulin is not practical during intense field postings. The military requires peak physical fitness, which is hard to guarantee with diabetic fluctuations.

Hey, don't stress too much about it. Yes, army medical rules are super strict and diabetes is usually a disqualifier because of field conditions. But there are so many other amazing ways to serve the nation, so keep your head up!

Actually yaar, the medical standards for the Indian Armed Forces are extremely tough. Since diabetes needs regular monitoring and diet control, they do disqualify you. It is sad but makes sense given their intense training.

Yes, the military medical board has strict criteria and diabetes is a disqualification. Do not be disheartened; God has different plans for everyone. Keep doing your best, stay healthy, and look forward with a positive mind.

In my years of service, I have seen the medical standards closely. Yes, diabetes is a disqualifying condition for entry into the military because of the extreme environments where medical aid or regular meals might not be available.

Let us be realistic, yes it is a direct disqualification. You cannot expect the army to accommodate special diets or insulin storage in border areas. It is better to accept it and look for civilian career options.
