Does diabetes come on suddenly?

My doctor said I have Type 2 diabetes, and I was quite shocked because I didn't feel sick suddenly. I always thought it develops slowly over time. Can diabetes actually come on very suddenly, or was I just not noticing symptoms?

Type 1 diabetes can appear quite suddenly, especially in younger people. However, Type 2 usually develops very silently over several years without us even noticing. A calm mind and regular health checks are the best way to stay aware.

No, Type 2 diabetes doesn't just happen overnight. You ignore high-carb diets and lack of exercise for years, and then one day the report comes positive and you act shocked. Stop waiting for symptoms and get tested.

Type 1 can show acute symptoms overnight, but Type 2 is usually a slow burn. I track my fasting blood sugar on my health app, and I could see the pre-diabetic trend slowly rising over six months before it actually crossed the diabetic threshold.

It might seem sudden when symptoms finally flare up, but the internal damage happens slowly. Instead of waiting for a sudden shock, it is much cheaper to spend 500 rupees on a yearly preventive health package than to treat chronic complications later.

For me, it felt like it came out of nowhere! One day I was fine, and the next day I was constantly thirsty and exhausted. But my doctor said my bad lifestyle was building it up quietly in the background for years.
