Does diabetes causes frequent urination?

Lately, I've been going to the washroom much more often than usual, especially at night. My aunt has diabetes, and she mentioned this was one of her first symptoms. Could this frequent urination be a sign of diabetes?

Yes, absolutely. When your sugar is high, the kidneys work overtime to flush it out, which makes you run to the bathroom every hour. If you are facing this, start tracking how many times you go at night and show a doctor.

It definitely does, as the body tries to throw out excess glucose through urine. Drinking barley water can help soothe the urinary tract, but honestly, you must see a doctor to treat the root cause of high sugar.

I have been noticing this lately and I am a bit worried. Does this frequent urination also cause extreme thirst, or are they different things? I am thinking of booking a checkup soon.

Yes, it is called polyuria and happens because of excess glucose in the blood. Along with your medication, doing regular daily walks helps improve insulin sensitivity and manage those sugar spikes, which can reduce frequent urination.

Yes, frequent urination, especially during the night, is one of the most common signs of high blood sugar. Please don't worry, but do get a simple blood test done to be safe.

My son was wetting the bed and drinking water constantly before his diagnosis. It was heartbreaking, but the doctor explained it is just the body's way of dealing with high sugar. Once we started treatment, his bathroom trips went back to normal.

In my 20 years of dealing with diabetes, this was the very first sign I noticed. I used to wake up 4-5 times every night to use the washroom. Don't let it stress you out too much, just get your sugar controlled and this symptom will vanish.

I panicked so much when I had to pee every 30 minutes, I thought my kidneys were failing! But it is actually a very standard response to high glucose levels. Once my doctor adjusted my medication, everything went back to normal.
