Does diabetes cause high blood pressure?

I've been told I'm borderline diabetic, and now my blood pressure readings are also a bit high. Does diabetes directly lead to or cause high blood pressure?

Yes, diabetes definitely increases the risk of high blood pressure as it damages arteries. Please get both checked regularly.

Haan babu, ye dono bimarayan pakki saheli hain. Mere bade bhaiyya ko pehle sugar hui, fir dheere dheere doctor bole ki khoon ki naliyan tight ho gayi hain isliye BP bhi badh gaya. Apna dhyan rakho aur meetha namak dono kam karo.

Haan yaar, diabetes aur high BP toh bilkul sath-sath hi chalte hain na. Sugar badhne se arteries hard ho jati hain, jisse pressure badhta hai. Dono ko control mein rakhna bahut zaroori hai, varna complications badh jati hain.

I have been dealing with both for 10 years now. High insulin resistance damages the blood vessel lining, leading to hypertension. My advice is to reduce sodium intake, walk 45 minutes daily, and strictly follow your doctor's medication schedule.

Yes, there is a strong connection, but you must consult a cardiologist or your general physician for an accurate diagnosis. Please don't try to manage high pressure on your own as it can put a strain on your heart. Regular monitoring is extremely important.
