Does diabetes cause alzheimer's?

My mother had diabetes for a long time and later developed Alzheimer's. I'm concerned if there's a connection. Can diabetes actually cause Alzheimer's disease?

There is a strong medical link between chronic high insulin resistance and cognitive decline. For your long-term safety, please consult a neurologist or your physician if you are noticing any frequent forgetfulness.

Yes, uncontrolled sugar damages the blood vessels in the brain over many years, raising the risk of memory issues. Stop reading scary articles, just focus on keeping your HbA1c in the normal range.

I already forget where I kept my car keys without having Alzheimer's! Jokes aside, doctors sometimes call Alzheimer's 'Type 3 diabetes' because high sugar can affect brain cells. Better to keep that sugar in check.
