Does desitin help eczema?

My baby has gotten a bad patch of eczema on her skin. Someone mentioned Desitin cream might help. Can Desitin be used for eczema?

I tried using Desitin on my dry eczema patches because zinc oxide is supposed to soothe skin, but it actually made my skin too dry and itchy. What worked for me was a thick ceramide moisturizer prescribed by my doctor. I'd say stay away from heavy diaper creams for eczema.

My grandmother suggested using simple virgin coconut oil for the itching, but for severe eczema, you really need proper medical guidance. Desitin is mainly for diaper rash and might be too thick or irritating for sensitive eczema patches. Please ask your skin doctor before applying it.

While Desitin contains zinc oxide which has anti-inflammatory properties, it is not formulated specifically for eczema. Eczema-prone skin has a compromised barrier that requires targeted emollients. It is best to consult a dermatologist for a proper prescription cream.

It might temporarily soothe the skin because of the zinc, but it is not a cure for eczema. Better to use a doctor-recommended moisturizer.

I agree with others here. Desitin is too thick to wash off and might irritate eczema skin, so sticking to basic paraffin or ceramide creams is safer.

Don't just apply random diaper rash creams on eczema just because someone on the internet recommended it. Eczema skin is highly sensitive and can react badly to fragrance or heavy bases in Desitin. Get a proper diagnosis from a skin clinic.

While I love experimenting with recipes in the kitchen, experimenting with skin creams on painful eczema is a bad idea! Desitin is meant for babies' bums, not angry eczema patches. Stick to what your dermatologist advises and eat clean to help skin heal.

A little bit of virgin coconut oil or aloe vera can help soothe mild itching naturally. However, Desitin is a chemical diaper paste and not the right treatment for eczema. If your skin is cracked or bleeding, please see a dermatologist immediately.

Eczema needs very gentle care and plenty of hydration, not thick sticky pastes. In my experience, doctors know best when it comes to chronic skin issues. Don't worry, with the right medical ointment, it will settle down soon.

I was actually researching this online yesterday because my cousin has bad eczema. From what I read on medical sites, zinc oxide helps with barrier repair but Desitin is too occlusive for daily eczema care. Best to ask a real doctor.

Hey, don't stress too much about finding the perfect cream overnight. Desitin is a bit heavy, so maybe stick to a plain, fragrance-free moisturizer till you can show it to a doc. Take care!

Skin issues can be quite tricky, especially if you have other metabolic conditions like diabetes where skin heals slowly. Don't use heavy baby creams like Desitin on cracked eczema wounds. Let a professional doctor inspect it and suggest a proper medicated cream.
