Does depression medicine cause weight loss?

Been on my depression meds for about six months now. I've noticed I'm shedding weight without really trying. Does depression medicine usually cause weight loss?

I am no expert, but when I was on prescription pills for my anxiety and depression, I actually lost about four kilos in the first two months because I felt less hungry. Everyone's body reacts differently though. You should definitely check with your psychiatrist.

Haan, bilkul ho sakta hai, par ye toh doctor hi sahi bata payenge na. Some medicines make you lose interest in food initially, while others can increase cravings. Apne doctor se khul kar baat karo is baare mein.

Please do not ignore these changes. I once ignored my rapid weight loss thinking it was just stress, and it messed up my health big time before I finally saw my specialist. If you are noticing sudden weight drop after starting the medicine, book an appointment immediately.

It is always safer to consult your prescribing doctor regarding any sudden changes in weight or appetite. Different psychiatric medications have completely different side-effect profiles. Dont take any chances and get it checked to stay on the safe side.

Hey, dont stress too much about the weight thing right now, okay? Your mental health is the absolute priority first. Once you feel more stable, you can easily manage your diet, just keep your doctor updated on how you are feeling.

Managing these medications requires keeping a close watch on your lifestyle, just like I do with my blood pressure. Sudden weight fluctuations can affect your energy levels. Keep a simple daily log of your weight and share it during your routine checkup.

I totally get it, worrying about physical changes when you are already dealing with mental health struggles is very exhausting. Sometimes the body just takes a few weeks to adjust to new molecules. Hang in there and let your doctor know about this.
