Does depo provera cause cancer?

I've been on Depo-Provera for a couple of years now as my birth control method. My aunt recently mentioned she read something concerning about hormonal contraceptives and cancer, making me worried. Does Depo-Provera have a link to causing cancer?

Haan na, starting hormonal shots can make us feel so worried about cancer. Actually, Depo Provera does not cause cancer; in fact, research shows it can reduce the risk of uterine cancer. So don't take too much stress, it is quite safe.

I am supposed to get my first Depo shot next week and I have been reading so many scary things online about hormone risks. Did anyone else feel really anxious about cancer before starting this? I would love to hear if your doctors reassured you about this.

Look, let's stick to the facts. Depo Provera is an FDA-approved contraceptive and does not cause breast or cervical cancer in any major way. It actually protects against endometrial cancer. Just go to a proper gynecologist, get your routine checkups done, and follow their advice.

At my age, every ache makes me think of the worst, so I understand your fear about cancer! But Depo Provera is a very old and tested method, and cancer is not something you need to worry about with it. The only real side effect I had was a bit of mood swings and weight gain, which is annoying enough!

My partner was on Depo Provera for a year and she had the same doubt. Her gynecologist clearly told us that there is no major link to cancer, and it is a very common birth control method. Don't worry about it, just consult a good doctor.

Hormonal treatments don't directly cause cancer, but they can affect your blood pressure and overall metabolism over time. I always tell people that maintaining a active lifestyle and getting regular health checkups is the key. Make sure your doctor monitors your BP and bone density while you are on Depo.
