Does depilatory cream cause cancer?

I regularly use depilatory creams for hair removal because they're convenient and painless for me. However, a friend recently warned me about certain chemicals in these creams and potential cancer risk. Is there any truth to claims that depilatory creams cause cancer?

According to dermatologists, there is no medical evidence linking hair removal creams to cancer. The chemicals used, like calcium thioglycolate, only break down the protein structure of the hair. However, my dermatologist warned that keeping them on the skin longer than the recommended time can cause severe chemical burns.

No, depilatory creams do not cause cancer, so you can stop worrying. They only work on the surface of your skin to dissolve hair, and the chemicals don't go deep into your body. Just be careful about skin burns or rashes, and always do a patch test first.

Dude, no way. If hair removal creams caused cancer, almost every college student would be in trouble. They just smell bad because of the chemicals, but they are totally safe to use. Just don't put them on cuts or pimples unless you want a crazy burning sensation!

I don't know about cancer, but the smell of those hair removal creams is so strong it completely ruins my appetite for dinner! I have to wait at least an hour before I can even think of eating my favorite samosas. But medically, they are totally safe.

I used to feel so scared using these creams because of some scary posts I saw on Facebook. But after reading actual scientific articles, I realized it was completely safe and there is no cancer risk. I still use them regularly now, just make sure to stick to the timing mentioned on the pack.

They don't cause cancer, but please be extremely careful with them. I once left a depilatory cream on my legs for just ten minutes and ended up with terrible chemical burns and peeling skin that took weeks to heal. If you get any severe redness or blistering, please see a dermatologist immediately.
