Does cyclobenzaprine make you sleep?

Since starting cyclobenzaprine for my shoulder discomfort, I've been feeling quite sleepy throughout the day, even during work hours. I was wondering if this medicine usually causes drowsiness or if it's just me experiencing this side effect. It's affecting my concentration.

Yes, it makes you extremely drowsy. In my case, I felt very dizzy and my heart started racing a bit when I woke up, so I had to call my doctor to reduce the dosage. Please consult your doctor if you feel excessively knocked out or uncomfortable.

I literally panicked the first day I took it because I slept for almost 10 hours straight and felt like a zombie. But my pharmacist friend told me it's completely normal since it is a muscle relaxant. Just take it right before bedtime and you will be fine.

It does bring deep sleep, which is actually the body's way of restoring and healing the damaged muscles. Accept the rest your body is asking for right now, keep a calm mind, and let this phase pass peacefully.

I totally get it, the drowsiness can be really scary if you have to manage work and home. It completely knocked me out too when I took it for my shoulder spasm. Try to talk to your doctor to see if you can take a lower dose only at night.

Oh, it absolutely puts you to sleep! It’s like a forced 8-hour nap button. Just make sure you don't have any important zoom meetings lined up right after taking it.
