Does cupping help sciatic pain?

I've been suffering from terrible sciatic pain, especially after sitting for long periods. My friend, who is into alternative medicine, recommended cupping. Can cupping therapy truly help with sciatic pain?

I tried cupping for my sciatic nerve pain and honestly, it only helped for a day or two. What actually fixed it for me was core strengthening exercises and proper physiotherapy.

Please don't waste time on these alternative therapies if your leg pain is worsening. I ignored my radiating leg pain for months thinking massage or cupping would fix it, and ended up needing major medical intervention later. Go get an MRI done.

It might give some temporary muscular relief, but sciatica is a nerve compression issue. Just like I need regular thyroid tests and specialist visits, you must see an orthopedist to address the actual disc issue causing the nerve pain.

Don't fall for these internet trends blindly. Sciatica pain starts from the spine, and putting cups on your skin won't magically fix a pinched nerve. Go to a proper doctor and get it treated.

It only relieves superficial muscle tension but does not cure the underlying nerve compression of sciatica.

I looked into cupping because the sciatic pain was making it hard for me to stand and cook my favorite weekend meals! It didn't do much for me, so I stuck to gentle stretching and hot water fermentation instead.

If you have a busy work schedule, sitting through multiple cupping sessions is not practical. A proper 15-minute daily stretch routine prescribed by a physio is much more effective and easier to fit into a hectic day.
