Does creatine affect liver enzymes?

I recently had a routine blood test, and my doctor noted some slightly elevated liver enzyme levels. I've been taking creatine for a while now, and I'm wondering if creatine affects liver enzymes. Could it be related?

I am planning to start gymming soon and wanted to know, does creatine actually raise SGOT and SGPT levels? I have a slightly weak digestion so I am a bit nervous about trying new powders.

Creatine shouldn't affect your liver enzymes if you are healthy and active. I take it and do a 45-minute brisk walk daily along with my gym session. Just make sure your doctor clears you for heavy exercise and supplements first.

If creatine raised liver enzymes, half the guys in my gym would be in the hospital by now! It's perfectly safe, buddy. Just don't mix it with your weekend beer, that's what actually hurts your liver!

No, it doesn't. Creatine might raise your creatinine levels slightly because of muscle breakdown, but it does not affect liver enzymes like SGOT or SGPT. Just buy a genuine, lab-tested brand and don't worry about it.

I agree with the others. Just make sure to get a routine blood test done every 6 months to keep an eye on your liver health anyway.
