Does cranberry juice help with passing kidney stones?

I'm currently dealing with a small kidney stone and it's quite painful. A neighbor recommended drinking cranberry juice, saying it might help me pass the stone more easily. Can it actually help in this situation?

Beta, in my 60 years I have seen many people try home remedies for stones. Cranberry juice is not a cure when you are trying to pass a stone. What you really need is massive amounts of water and proper guidance from a doctor to make sure it doesn't block the tract.

Trust me, when you are in agony trying to pass a stone, a fancy glass of juice is the last thing that will help. I spent a whole night walking the corridor crying in pain while my wife Googled cranberry juice. Just go to the hospital and get the proper medicine.

Hey, please don't experiment with cranberry juice if you are actively trying to pass a kidney stone. If the stone is large, it can get stuck and cause severe kidney damage. Drink water for now, but please get an ultrasound done to see the exact size of the stone.

Patthri ka dard bahut bura hota hai babu. Yeh cranberry sab angrezi baatein hain, hamare yahan toh patharchatta ka patta aur dher saara nariyal paani peene ko bolte hain. Par agar dard bahut zyada ho toh turant doctor ke paas jao, bilkul deri mat karo.

My urologist at Apollo specifically told me that cranberry juice does not help in passing stones. In fact, it contains oxalates which might increase the risk of certain types of stones. Please consult a specialist and get a proper prescription.
