Does coughing help a heart attack?

A forwarded message on WhatsApp said that if you're having a heart attack, you should cough repeatedly to help yourself. My father has heart issues, so I want to know if this is actually true or just some fake news.

I read about this 'cough CPR' thing on WhatsApp and it made me so nervous. Is it actually true or is it just a dangerous myth? I really want to know if anyone has spoken to a real doctor about this.

Absolutely not, this is a very dangerous internet myth. When my father had a heart attack, the doctor strictly told us that coughing does not help and can actually put more strain on the heart. The only right thing to do is call an ambulance immediately.

Haan na, I also received that message on my family group. But my doctor said it is totally fake and very risky, ho na. If someone has chest pain, we must call for help immediately instead of trying such things.

My family elders sometimes share these forwarded remedies out of concern, but we must trust proper medical science. Doctors clearly advise that coughing does not cure or help a heart attack. If there is chest tightness or sudden pain, please rush to the nearest emergency room.

Please do not rely on 'cough CPR' during a suspected heart attack. This is a medical misconception that only applies in very specific hospital settings under a doctor's supervision. In real life, focus on calling emergency services and getting to a hospital immediately.
