Does conditioner remove dandruff?

I have quite a bit of dandruff and it's getting annoying. Can using conditioner actually remove dandruff from the scalp?

I used to panic so much thinking my dandruff would never go and kept piling on conditioner to stop the dryness, which actually made it worse! Later, my doctor explained it's a fungal issue. Once I used a proper anti-dandruff shampoo, it went away easily.

I have been using a moisturizing conditioner on my scalp hoping it would cure the flakes, but it seems to be getting more itchy. Has anyone else felt that conditioner actually increased their dandruff instead of helping?

I barely have the energy to wash my hair, but let me tell you, conditioner definitely doesn't remove dandruff. If anything, putting it on your scalp will just feed the fungus and create a snowy mess on your shoulders.

Conditioner won't clear up dandruff. Sweating during my daily runs can sometimes flare up my scalp issues, and only an active anti-fungal shampoo keeps it under control. Make sure to wash your scalp thoroughly after workouts.

In all my years, I have seen that simple hygiene and a proper medicated wash are what work for dandruff. Fancy cosmetic conditioners only coat the hair; they do not heal the scalp. Don't worry, just use a proper dandruff shampoo.

No, regular conditioner cannot remove dandruff. It is best to use a specialized anti-dandruff shampoo to treat the scalp directly, and keep the conditioner only for your hair ends.

With PCOS, scalp issues like dandruff can get quite stubborn due to hormonal fluctuations. Normal conditioners don't have the active ingredients to clear it. I highly recommend consulting your dermatologist to get a targeted scalp treatment.
