Does compression help arthritis?

My knees and hands hurt a lot because of arthritis. My neighbour suggested trying compression garments. Can compression really help with arthritis pain?

My daughter has juvenile arthritis, and compression gloves have been a lifesaver for her morning joint stiffness. They don't cure it, but they definitely provide support and keep the hands warm. Just make sure the fit isn't too tight.

Look, compression sleeves will only help with the pain and swelling temporary basis. They are not a permanent cure for arthritis. Wear them when you are active, but don't sleep in them, and keep doing your joint exercises.

In our old age, joint pain is a constant companion. Gentle warm crepe bandages or compression sleeves do help support the joints and reduce swelling. Along with this, a mild massage with warm sesame oil can bring great relief.

For diabetics who also have arthritis, compression must be used with extra caution because we already have poor circulation risks. Make sure your blood sugar is under control first. Always ask your physician before using any tight compression wear.

Please be careful with compression. I wore a tight knee sleeve for my arthritis and it ended up restricting my blood circulation, which caused a painful swelling issue. You must consult a doctor or a physical therapist to get the right fit.
