Does coke cause kidney stones?

I drink a lot of soft drinks, especially coke, because I don't like plain water much. My brother recently had a kidney stone. Does coke cause kidney stones, and should I cut back?

In our days, we only drank fresh buttermilk or lime juice, and kidney stones were quite rare. These modern sodas are full of chemicals that put a lot of strain on your kidneys. Avoid them and stay with simple, natural drinks.

Yes, these bottled black drinks are not good for the kidneys as they contain phosphoric acid which can help stones grow. Drink barley water or fresh coconut water daily to keep your system clean and cool.

Haan bhai, colas and sweet sodas are known to cause stones because they dehydrate your body. It is much better to drink normal matka water and homemade lassi. Take care of your health.

I agree, the phosphoric acid in dark sodas definitely increases the risk of kidney stones. It is much safer to switch to plain water or lemon water.

My father always warned us that artificial drinks heat up the urinary tract and cause stones. When I asked our doctor, he confirmed that the high fructose corn syrup and phosphoric acid in Coke can indeed increase calcium oxalate in urine, leading to stones. It is best to stick to water.
