Does coffee make period pain worse?

My period cramps are always very painful, and I've tried many things. Someone told me that drinking coffee can actually make period pain worse. Is this true, and should I avoid coffee during my cycle?

I used to have terrible cramps and noticed they got much worse when I drank coffee on my period. I completely cut out caffeine during those five days last month, and honestly, the pain was so much more manageable. Try skipping it once to see if it helps.

In our times, we avoided heavy drinks like coffee during our cycle because it causes wind and stomach bloating. Having light, warm foods and resting well is the best way to handle this. Don't worry, this phase passes every month.

During periods, it is better to drink warm ginger or carom seed (ajwain) tea to soothe the uterus instead of coffee, which can increase heat and acidity. However, if your pain is so severe that you cannot do daily work, please visit a gynecologist for a checkup.

Caffeine constricts blood vessels which can definitely make cramps feel like a mini-earthquake inside. I love my coffee, but during those days I have to choose between my morning sanity and a peaceful stomach. Usually, hot water wins!

It is so frustrating when you just want a comforting cup of coffee but worry it will make the exhausting pain even worse. I totally feel you. I had to learn the hard way that caffeine intensifies my cramps, so I try to avoid it now.

My sister suffers from really bad period cramps and she completely stops drinking coffee during those days because caffeine triggers her pain. She switches to warm herbal teas instead and says it makes a huge difference.

Coffee can irritate the stomach lining and increase tension in the pelvic muscles during menstruation. Practicing gentle stretches like butterfly pose and drinking warm water instead of caffeine will help relax your body naturally.

I crave chocolate and coffee so badly during my period! But I've noticed coffee makes my stomach bloat and cramps worse. Now I try to switch to mild hot chocolate or chamomile tea, which satisfies the warm drink craving without the caffeine kick.
