Does coffee make kidney stones worse?

My husband has had kidney stones twice, and he's been advised to limit certain foods and drinks. He's very fond of coffee, but we're worried it might make his kidney stones worse. What's the real deal with coffee and kidney stones?

Unless you are replacing all your water with coffee, you are probably fine! Just don't let your coffee-to-water ratio get too crazy. Drink enough water to flush things out and you won't have to worry about those painful little rocks.

Coffee actually contains oxalates which can contribute to calcium oxalate stones, but it is also a diuretic that makes you urinate more. To be safe, limit your coffee to one cup a day and focus on drinking at least 3 liters of plain water daily.

I completely panicked when I got a 5mm stone last year, thinking I had to quit coffee forever. But my urologist said moderate coffee is actually fine, as long as I stay hydrated. Just drink a glass of water for every cup of coffee you have.

Bro, my doctor told me that dehydration is the real enemy, not coffee. If you drink a cup of coffee but also drink 3-4 liters of water throughout the day, it won't make your stones worse. Just don't skip the water.

Drinking warm lemon water daily is very helpful for preventing stones naturally. While a little coffee is fine, please go see a doctor immediately if you experience severe lower back pain or blood in your urine, as these are serious signs.

In our family, we use barley water and fresh coconut water to clear out kidney heat and small stones. Coffee can sometimes dehydrate the body if you drink too much of it. Please reduce coffee and focus on these natural fluids instead.
