Does cod liver oil go bad?

I've had a bottle of cod liver oil in my fridge for a while now, and the expiry date is approaching. Can cod liver oil really go bad, or does it stay potent for a long time?

Honestly, everything goes bad, including my knees! But seriously, if those liquid capsules smell like rotten fish when you open the bottle, just throw them away. Don't risk your stomach for saving a few rupees, trust me.

Haan na, it definitely goes bad if you keep it open for too long. If you smell a very strong rancid smell, then discard it immediately. Liquid ones spoil faster than capsules, ho na. Better to buy small bottles always.

My grandmother used to say always keep oils in a cool, dark cupboard so they don't spoil fast. But my family doctor always advises checking the expiry date on the pack very strictly. If the oil looks cloudy or dark, it is best not to use it.

Please check the expiry date properly. I once took expired health supplements thinking nothing would happen and ended up with terrible stomach issues and infection. If you have any nausea or bad stomach after taking it, please go see a doctor immediately.

I get so worried about this too! Yes, cod liver oil can oxidise and go rancid if exposed to light and heat. I always store my bottle inside the fridge just to be safe. If you are unsure, it's really better to throw it and buy a fresh one.
