Does coconut oil help eczema?

My little one has developed eczema patches, and I'm looking for gentle remedies. A friend suggested applying coconut oil to the affected areas. Does it actually help soothe eczema?

Yes, virgin coconut oil is very gentle and can help moisturize dry, irritated skin. I hope you get some relief from the itching soon.

Virgin coconut oil has natural antibacterial properties which can help prevent secondary infections on cracked skin. However, it is an emollient, not a cure. If the eczema is red, weeping, or very painful, please see a dermatologist for a proper steroid or non-steroidal cream.

Since I have thyroid issues, my skin gets extremely dry and prone to irritation. I use coconut oil daily, but for real eczema patches, home remedies aren't enough. You should get a proper diagnosis and see if any underlying issues are causing the skin flares.

Don't stress too much, eczema flares up more when you worry! Just apply some pure organic coconut oil to keep the skin hydrated and avoid harsh soaps. It really helps calm the redness down naturally.

Eczema is so incredibly painful and frustrating, I always get so anxious when skin flares up because you never know what might trigger it. Virgin coconut oil is generally safe, but please do a patch test on a small area first to make sure it doesn't cause a reaction.
