Does claritin help eczema?

Suffering from eczema, and sometimes the itching gets really bad. My friend told me that Claritin, an allergy medicine, might help with skin conditions like eczema. Is there any truth to this, or should I stick to my regular creams?

At this age, my skin gets dry and itchy if I even look at a harsh soap. Claritin helps a bit with the intense itching sensation from eczema, but it won't make the red patches magically disappear. You still have to spend half your day applying heavy moisturizing creams like a newborn baby!

I know how completely exhausting and stressful it is to deal with constant itching and red skin from eczema. When my skin flared up, I tried taking Claritin to stop the itch. It does help calm down the scratchy feeling slightly, but please don't expect it to cure the eczema completely on its own.

Eczema is a complex skin barrier issue and not just a simple allergy. Do not think that popping over-the-counter Claritin will cure your skin flare-ups. You need a proper dermatological evaluation to get prescribed the right topical creams and barrier repair lotions.

Yes, Claritin can help reduce the 'itch-scratch cycle' in eczema, which prevents skin damage from scratching. But remember, it is an oral antihistamine, so it won't moisturize your dry skin. You must continue using a good fragrance-free emollient cream twice a day.

Eczema during college exams is the absolute worst due to stress. Claritin helps me stop scratching my arms during lectures, but it doesn't really clear up the rash. I just use lots of Cetaphil moisturizer along with it to keep it calm.

I also suffer from dry skin patches and started taking Claritin when the itching became unbearable during winters. Personally, it helped me feel less itchy, but I found that avoiding hot showers and using mild soaps worked much better for my eczema in the long run.

Hey, don't stress too much about the skin flare-ups, they happen to the best of us. Claritin is great to stop that annoying itchy feeling so you can sleep peacefully at night. Just keep your skin super hydrated with coconut oil or a heavy cream, and you'll be fine!

I am so tired of eczema keeping me awake half the night scratching my ankles like crazy. I took Claritin hoping for relief, and while it didn't cure the rash, at least it helped me sleep for a few hours without scratching. It's not a cure, but it gives my sleep-deprived brain a break!
