Does clarifying shampoo help with dandruff?

Struggling with dandruff for a while now, and my regular shampoo isn't really helping. Someone mentioned that clarifying shampoo might be useful. Can clarifying shampoo actually help in getting rid of dandruff?

I used to get greasy buildup on my scalp which looked like dandruff, and using a clarifying shampoo once a week really helped clear it up for me. But I noticed that when I used it too often, it made my scalp dry and itchy. So I only use it occasionally now to remove product buildup.

My scalp has been very itchy and flaky lately, but I have never tried a clarifying shampoo before. Is it different from regular anti-dandruff shampoos that we buy in shops? I am a bit worried it might make my hair very dry and frizzy.

I went to a dermatologist at a reputed hospital for my severe dandruff issue last year. He explained that clarifying shampoos only remove surface oil and dirt, but they don't treat the actual fungus that causes real dandruff. He prescribed a specific ketoconazole shampoo, so I suggest you ask a doctor for the right treatment.

Hamare yahan toh dandruff ke liye baalon me dahi aur nimbu lagate hain, usse bohot aaram milta hai. Ye clarifying shampoo ke baare me mujhe zyada nahi pata, par chemical waali cheezein baalon ko kamzoor kar sakti hain. Aap thoda dhyan se hi use kijiyega.

I completely relate to this struggle, dandruff is so annoying especially when wearing dark clothes! Clarifying shampoo helps if your flakes are actually from dry shampoo or oil buildup, but for real fungal dandruff, you need an active ingredient like zinc pyrithione. Try using a gentle anti-dandruff scalp serum instead.

Actually yaar, clarifying shampoo makes the hair super dry if you use it too much. It clears the scalp buildup for a day or two, but then the dandruff comes back. Better to use a proper medicated scalp lotion once a week.
