Does chewing plastic give you cancer?
My younger sister has a weird habit of chewing on plastic bottle caps or pens when she's stressed. We tell her to stop, but she doesn't listen. Can chewing plastic actually give you cancer?

Chewing on plastic pen caps or bottles can release harmful chemicals like BPA and phthalates into your body. My doctor colleague mentioned that these are endocrine disruptors and are linked to various long-term health risks, including cellular damage. It is a highly toxic habit that you must stop immediately.
I used to chew the back of my plastic pens constantly during college exams due to stress. I stopped when I noticed my gums got cut and irritated, and I realized how many chemicals I was probably swallowing. Now I just use a metal fidget ring to keep my hands busy.
I actually have this nervous habit of chewing on plastic straws when I drink juice, and now I am really scared after reading this. Does anyone know if food-grade plastic straws are also as dangerous, or should I switch to paper straws immediately?
Don't panic, you won't get cancer instantly from doing this once or twice. But it is a very harmful habit because of the industrial chemicals used to manufacture plastic. Just make a conscious effort to stop doing it from today, okay? Take care.
There is no definitive study saying a single chew will give you cancer, but swallowing microplastics is definitely toxic. Don't trust online forums that say it is harmless. If you can't control this chewing habit, see a doctor or psychologist to address the root cause.
Our bodies are beautiful temples and we must be very mindful of what we put inside them. Plastic is artificial and full of toxins that can harm your life force over time. Please stay positive, take gentle care of yourself, and break this habit.

Dude, chewing plastic is a terrible idea. Apart from the microplastics and toxic chemicals you are swallowing, you can easily chip your teeth or cut your gums. Just buy some sugar-free chewing gum or a proper chew toy if you have the urge.
Many plastics contain chemical compounds that mimic hormones and can severely disrupt your endocrine system. Having thyroid issues myself, I know how easily hormones get messed up. Please stop chewing plastic and get your hormone levels tested if you feel unwell.
