Does cerave anti dandruff shampoo work?

I've been struggling with dandruff for ages, and nothing seems to really work long-term. I saw an advertisement for CeraVe anti-dandruff shampoo. Has anyone here tried it, and does CeraVe anti-dandruff shampoo actually work?

Don't just buy expensive imported shampoos because of social media hype. Dandruff can be due to dry scalp, eczema, or fungal infections, and CeraVe might not work for all of them. Save your money and ask a dermatologist what active ingredient your scalp actually needs.

I researched the formulation of CeraVe's anti-dandruff shampoo because it contains salicylic acid and ceramides. My dermatologist explained that while salicylic acid gently exfoliates the scalp to remove flakes, the ceramides help repair the skin barrier. It works well for mild dandruff, but you might need ketoconazole for severe fungal dandruff.

I tried it and it definitely cleaned my scalp, but my wallet felt much lighter too! It works decently, but honestly, even a basic medical shampoo from your local pharmacy does the same job. Use it if you want to feel fancy!

CeraVe shampoo is quite expensive in India because it is imported. Instead of spending 1500-2000 rupees on a bottle, you can visit a local skin doctor for a 500 rupee consultation. They can prescribe a much cheaper Indian medicated shampoo that works better.

I had terrible dandruff and tried CeraVe. It is very gentle and didn't dry out my hair like other dandruff shampoos do because of the ceramides. My tip is to leave it on your scalp for at least 3-4 minutes before washing it off, otherwise the salicylic acid won't have time to work.

If you have a very itchy scalp, redness, or hair loss along with dandruff, please get it checked by a doctor first. Sometimes it can be psoriasis or seborrheic dermatitis, and using the wrong shampoo can irritate your skin further. Safety is always first.
