Does cellulitis cause fever?

I have a red, swollen patch on my leg that feels warm to the touch, and I've also developed a fever today. My wife thinks it might be cellulitis. Does cellulitis cause fever as a symptom?

It is extremely scary to see a skin infection accompanied by a fever. Yes, cellulitis can definitely cause a fever, and it means the infection is spreading, so please don't wait and see a doctor immediately.

Do not try to treat cellulitis with turmeric or home remedies if you have a fever. It is a serious bacterial infection that requires prescription antibiotics, so verify this with a doctor at once.

I was looking up cellulitis symptoms and a fever is actually a red flag indicating the infection is turning systemic. It is definitely not something to ignore.

For diabetics, skin infections like cellulitis are highly dangerous and can escalate rapidly. If you have a fever, please go to the emergency room immediately to get it treated before it spikes your blood sugar levels dangerously.
