Does cancer feed off sugar?

My neighbour told me that if someone has cancer, they shouldn't eat anything sweet because the cancer cells will "feed" on it. Is it true that cancer grows faster if you consume sugar? I want to make sure I'm giving the right advice.

Managing my thyroid has taught me that balance is key. Cancer cells do use glucose, but so does every healthy cell in our body. Don't starve yourself of normal carbs; just follow your doctor's advice and do regular checkups.

There are many myths about this online, but cutting out all carbohydrates can be dangerous for your strength. Please consult a qualified oncologist or clinical dietitian before making drastic changes to your food.

During my chemo, my dietitian told me that starving the body of sugar does not starve the cancer. You need good energy to fight the treatment. Just avoid processed sugar and eat normal grains.

I got so scared after reading about sugar feeding cancer that I stopped eating rice and fruits entirely. Did anyone else go through this phase? It made me feel so weak and dizzy.

Honestly, this is a huge internet myth. Every cell in your body needs glucose, not just cancer cells. You can't cure cancer by just stopping sugar, so eat normally and trust the doctors.
