Does caffeine affect arthritis?

I have arthritis in my knees, and the pain can be quite bad sometimes. I love my morning cup of chai, but my sister said that caffeine can make arthritis worse. Does caffeine really affect arthritis pain or inflammation?

Without my morning filter coffee, my brain doesn't work, but my knees also complain if I have too many cups! For me, excess caffeine definitely makes my joint stiffness a bit worse. I have restricted myself to just one small cup a day now.

I used to panic thinking my daily tea was causing my arthritis pain to flare up. But after tracking it, I realized moderate caffeine is actually fine. Don't worry too much, just don't drink 4-5 cups a day and you will be completely fine.

It can vary from person to person. For some, caffeine increases inflammation, while others feel no difference. Try avoiding coffee for a week and see if your joint pain reduces.

I can only speak from my own journey with gouty arthritis. I noticed that when I drank too much black coffee, my uric acid levels fluctuated, which triggered pain. Now I stick to milk tea and keep my hydration very high.

There are so many conflicting articles online saying caffeine is both good and bad for arthritis. Honestly, don't trust these random internet claims. Talk to your rheumatologist, as they can guide you based on your specific type of arthritis.

In my experience, caffeine is very acidic and heating for the body, which can sometimes aggravate joint pain. Practicing gentle micro-movements (Sukshma Vyayama) and switching to herbal teas like ginger or fenugreek water has helped my joints tremendously.

My mother was recently diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and she loves her daily coffee. I am a bit worried. Does caffeine cause immediate pain flares, or is it a gradual effect over time?
