Does butter reduce acidity in tomato sauce?

When I make tomato sauce at home, it sometimes turns out a bit too acidic, causing heartburn. My grandmother always adds a little butter to her sauce, claiming it reduces the acidity. Does adding butter really help reduce acidity in tomato sauce?

Butter doesn't actually reduce the chemical acidity, it just masks the sour taste on your tongue. If you have severe acid reflux, adding high-fat butter might actually make your stomach produce more acid. Better to use a tiny pinch of baking soda instead.

Whenever I get severe acidity from eating pasta or heavy foods, my doctor at Max Hospital told me that fats can trigger more reflux. Don't rely on these kitchen tricks if you have chronic acidity issues, ask your gastroenterologist for a proper solution.

I was reading about this on some cooking blogs! Apparently, butter just rounds off the sharp flavor, but it doesn't change the actual pH level. If you are trying to avoid heartburn, maybe reduce the quantity of tomato sauce overall.

I always worry about getting acid reflux at night, so I research every ingredient. Butter actually slows down stomach emptying, which might keep the acidic sauce in your stomach for longer. Maybe try a very small portion first to see if your stomach handles it well.

Adding a cube of butter makes the sauce taste super velvety and cuts that sharp tomato bite! But honestly, it is pure indulgence, not a cure for heartburn. If I eat a lot of it, I just keep a glass of cold milk ready for later.

Bhai, butter se bas taste soft hota hai, acidity kam nahi hoti. If you eat heavy buttered sauce, your chest will burn even more later. Just put very little tomato and add some grated carrots to naturally sweeten the sauce.
